It’s our goal at Axis Jiu Jitsu Sunshine Coast to positively impact and improve people’s lives through a great culture and training environment where people are free to be themselves, train, explore, be challenged and expand their potential.
We provide a safe, fun and authentic training environment that is physically and mentally challenging and that teaches fundamental, functional and self defence skills. We do this through honouring the art Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) as it was originally intended, as a Martial Art and while we do layer in today’s modern sports Jiu Jitsu, we ground ourselves in self defence first and foremost.
Once you have your foundation set, you are then free to expand, elaborate and add your own expression of your Jiu Jitsu game.
We recognise that everyone trains in the Martial Arts for their own reasons and we encourage a co-creative environment where we work with each of our clients to make sure that they are getting what they came for in order to help them progress as fast as possible.
But "I’d love to do something like that for myself… but I just don’t have the time” I hear you say.
We understand that people are also juggling lives outside of the gym being family, work, bills, mortgages etc, so we ensure our class times, and tiered memberships are scheduled and designed for the every day person… not just the young Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitors who don’t have any commitments off the mat.
The majority of our clients are parents, partners, tradies, business owners, health care practitioners, and office workers who simply want to move more, be healthier, be more confident and train in developing applicable skills, reduce stress and improve mental fortitude on and off the mats.
At Axis Jiu Jitsu, we believe that training with us should complement your life… not take it over.
We also hear a lot “I’ve trained before when I was younger but I ended up getting injured all the time”.
We have become the home for many BJJ Practitioners who have trained when younger, but as they’ve got older, found that the mat culture where they once where is not suited for them any more.
Jiu Jitsu training can be a life long pursuit.. if coached and trained properly. Jiu Jitsu can be fore everyone, not just for athletes. Unfortunately what you could get away with as a teen or in your 20’s is not necessarily what you can get way with in your 30’s, 40’s or 50’s. What you could shake off and keep rolling, now becomes a ‘niggle’, and turning up to training has become stressful rather than enjoyable, which not only effects you getting on the mats but also you daily life and career.
At Axis Jiu Jitsu Sunshine Coast, we train like we are going to be staying on the mats for life and still able to juggle our lives and obligations outside the academy.
