Start Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on the Sunshine Coast.
No previous martial arts experience or high level of fitness is required. We'll help you learn progressively in a friendly, supportive training environment at our academy in Warana.
Never Trained before? That's normal, everyone starts at the beginning.
Most people who walk into a Jiu Jitsu academy for the first time don't know what to expect.
You don't need to know how to grapple.
You don't need to already be fit.
You don't need to be flexible.
And you don't need to be interested in competing.
At Axis, you'll learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu progressively, starting with the fundamentals and developing your skills at your own pace.
Our members range from recreational students who simply enjoy training through to experienced competitors.

No.Axis has adults training across a broad range of ages, fitness levels and experience. You don't need to keep up with the 20-year-old competitor beside you. Jiu Jitsu is something you can develop progressively, and training can be adapted to your circumstances. If you've been thinking about starting but keep telling yourself you'll do it once you get fitter, don't wait for that imaginary day.Come and start where you are. Am I too old to start BJJ?
Women train at Axis too
It's not just for the guys.
Women are well represented in our regular classes and train alongside the rest of the team.If you're a woman considering BJJ but unsure what our environment will be like, you're welcome to contact us beforehand and ask any questions you have about training. We can even put you in contact with our ladies for their first hand experience. Why Axis?
Starting Jiu Jitsu can feel intimidating, but the training environment doesn't have to be.At Axis, we've worked hard to create a friendly, supportive training culture where people can learn, challenge themselves and enjoy being on the mats. You don't need to arrive fit, experienced or with something to prove. Our classes include complete beginners, recreational members and experienced practitioners training alongside each other. Our focus is on good technical Jiu Jitsu, safe training and helping people improve at their own pace. We take the training seriously, without taking ourselves too seriously. We also understand that most of our members have lives outside the academy. Work, children and family commitments don't always fit neatly around a martial arts timetable, so we offer 5:30am weekday classes, evening training and sessions across six days each week, giving you options to make Jiu Jitsu work around your life rather than the other way around.Based in Warana on the Sunshine Coast, Axis offers both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo, with shower and sauna facilities available at the academy.Whether you want to get fitter, learn a new skill, challenge yourself, meet good people or eventually compete, you're welcome on the mats.No egos. No pressure to prove yourself. Just good people learning and training Jiu Jitsu together.
